The ERHS Drum Major program, under the direction of Mr. Cordero, began to foster and grow with each new year. The program has produced successful results in both the parade competition arena and independent drum major circuit.
All freshmen currently enrolled in the marching band program are allowed to participate in drum major clinics. Through participation, potential drum majors are groomed in collaborative leadership, mace spinning, conducting, tradition and ethics. Drum major candidates are provided instructions on the traditions of military and field show band and the role and responsibilities of the high school drum major, with an emphasis on service and collaborative leadership.
As each year progresses, members are selected to continue in the program based on their academic success and their service to the music program . By the student's senior year one member will be selected as Senior Drum Major from the available pool of eligible candidates.
Former Senior Drum Major Paul Espitia is a Three-Time World Drum Major Association Champion for Mace Drum
Major. Other talented and accomplished former student's of Mr. Cordero include, WDMA Judge & board member Esteban DeLeon (Mace & Military), Louise Moreno (Military) Jacob Moghimi-Denesh (Mace), Jennifer Tran (Military).
